Leadership – On and Off the Course
You might be asking yourself what this golfing picture has to do with Leadership... well, not much. But it should generate some excitement for our upcoming chamber golf outing at Great Oaks Country Club on Monday, September 20th. The good news is our outing is a lot less expensive than the going rate at Pebble Beach of $395/round. Call 248-853-7862 to make your reservation and inquire about sponsorship opportunities.
In golf you can be the leader and not necessarily be part of a team. For most of us in business our success will be determined by a team. The ability for each individual to maximize their contribution to the team will lead to greater overall success.
Some traits we tend to associate with successful leadership include:
- Short-term action, long-term vision
- Effective communication skills
- Working well with all personality types
- Seeking opportunity for change
- Being a role model and teacher
- Inspiring others to accomplish great things
The chamber provides a wonderful environment for managers and employees to develop, practice, and enhance good leadership skills. Gain experience by joining or chairing a committee, attending networking events, or volunteering for a wide range of opportunities. Get involved for the benefit of yourself, your company, and your community.
